Piezoelectric-silicone structure for vibration energy harvesting: experimental testing and modelling

Abstract Mechanical vibrations from heavy machines, building structures, or the human body can be harvested and directly converted into electrical energy. In this paper, potential to effectively harvest mechanical locally generate energy using a novel piezoelectric-rubber composite structure is explored. Piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate bonded silicone rubber form cylindrical composite-like harvesting device which has structurally dampen high acceleration forces power. The was experimentally load tested an advanced dynamic model verified against experimental data. While output power of 57 ? W cm ?3 obtained, further optimises geometry. proposed generates sufficient for structural health monitoring remote sensing applications, while also providing damping low frequency vibrations.
